#69 Layman's Poetry

Here is some poetry by a Union soldier:

I bring thee no riches
No wealth from the sea
But the heart in my bosom
Sighs ever for thee.
[P.S.] How can a fellow help it.

Here is some by a Rebel:

The rose is red,
And the villets blue
And hant give me nary present
That is purty like you.

Another Rebel wrote:

Green is the vine,
And red is the Rose;
How I love you,
Nobody noes.
